Description
DescriptionThe Department of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications for a non-tenure track, full-time instructor in art history to begin in August 2026. The department seeks an active teacher-scholar with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentorship.
The successful candidate will teach a range of coursework, from introductory surveys to advanced-level undergraduate classes in modern and contemporary art history, as well as contribute to SIUE's General Education curriculum. They will be expected to collaborate with current art history faculty to deliver the established art history curriculum but also encouraged to augment existing offerings by developing new courses in their area of expertise. Additional opportunities for student mentoring include advising and directing senior projects in art history as well as participating on Art Studio MFA candidate thesis committees. In addition, interdisciplinary collaboration and contributions are encouraged. Past art history faculty have worked closely with colleagues in the Department of History, including the Director of Museum Studies, the Department of Anthropology, and the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies minor, among others.
